I have been a member of AAED since around the time I joined the City of Phoenix back in 2009 as a business liaison for the Economic Development Department Workforce Division.  Having been a business and education consultant for over 15 years it was a bit of a learning curve understanding the ins and outs of true economic development.  Therefore it was an easy decision to enter into the program to become an AZ ED Pro upon its conception.  It afforded me the opportunity to put structure around the sometimes nebulous efforts to grow a city’s economy and support the local business community.  These courses have allowed me to exponentially expand my knowledge and skill set, even while working in the private sector for almost five years, and stay connected to the latest strategies for retention, expansion and recruitment efforts.  I am proud to be a part of this great organization and grateful to the members who brought this certification to fruition.
