Give us a brief summary of your work history – how did you end up where you are?

I work as Executive Director to Arizona Regional Economic Development Foundation and hold several positions on boards & committees throughout the State of Arizona that are related to economic development. These involvements have proven to be an asset in bringing attention to the greater Sierra Vista area, staying informed on new developments, & leveraging resources.

I’ve been working in business and economic development for over 30 years now, from business and personal tax advice and preparation to promoting and supporting industries such as aerospace and defense, small business, health care, Arizona/Mexico commerce, and transportation, which have provided thousands of new jobs throughout the state.

I serve on the AAED government relations committee and the rural committee as past chairman. I also was appointed by the Governor to the Greater Arizona Development Authority (GADA) and the Aerospace and Defense Commission and currently serve on the board of the Arizona Commerce Authority.

What has been your favorite project to work on?

Working with Project CURE to secure the medical supply donation to Agua Prieta this past October (read story) was a fun and rewarding project to be part of, and I’m quite proud of all the organizations for coming together in assisting our community beyond borders.

If I had to pick a favorite project, I’d say currently it’s Aerospace. AREDF recently formed Aerospace Arizona Association after noticing a need for the state’s UAS and Aerospace industries to be united. Our goal with this is to help advance the industry, to work with our legislators for more UAS friendly regulations, and to provide education and networking opportunities for both the larger UAS companies and the smaller ones in our state. We have been working on this project for a few years and officially formed Aerospace Arizona in 2016. Most recently, AREDF and Aerospace Arizona helped put together Arizona’s first UAS conference in Scottsdale. It was a great event that focused on speakers and content of presentations rather than being more of a trade show.  We are looking forward to our agenda for next year which will include Aerospace trade trips to Mexico, a b2b conference and roundtable discussions to help set legislative priorities.

Tell us something that other members may not know about you.

Most people who know me think that I’m always working, which is technically not true. When I’m not working, I enjoy nothing more than long horseback rides through the trails of Cochise County. As the weather gets colder, I also love working on knitting projects for myself and friends.
