President's Letter
Welcome to the Arizona Association for Economic Development
(AAED) website. As our mission proclaims, AAED is committed to being the leading
advocate for responsible economic development in Arizona.
Economic development is all about improving the economy
of a community, region and state through the attraction and retention of businesses
that represent jobs and
revenue. In these uncertain economic times, our membership, a blend of over 500 individuals from both the public and private sectors, is keenly focused on improving
the quality of life and business climate for everyone in the state including those
in our urban cores
and rural communities, as well as those who inhabit the various
Native American Reservations in Arizona.
AAED has been in existence
for 35 years, and represents a very diverse membership from economic development and workforce practitioners,
to service providers, to
tribal members,
from all over Arizona. At AAED, you will find representatives
from residential and commercial real estate development, construction, architecture, engineering,
utilities, communications, education, and state, local, and tribal
government among many
others.
AAED's three cores areas of concentration for our activities are education, advocacy,
and networking. The work taken on by our Board of Directors and Committees and the
events we sponsor and support are all geared toward supporting these core areas
as we work to support responsible economic development throughout Arizona.
Thank you for your interest in AAED. I encourage you to
consider getting involved with our dynamic organization
- if you are interested in learning more about us, please
contact our Executive Director, Bruce Coomer at 602-240-2233 or bruce@aaed.com.
Best Regards,
Rock Rickert
AAED President, 2009-2010
